![]() ![]() I wouldn't consider myself any type of marketing or branding expert tho and I do know producers that have success running ad campaigns and things that as well, but like I said earlier my approach is to focus on the music and let everything else happen more naturally.Īs far as statistics, I decided about 2 years ago to really get serious about trying to sell my beats online and started posting every day on my YouTube channel in august 2017. I believe the best marketing for any business is word of mouth, as a producer this means having quality songs you've produced and can share with people, rappers tent to be friends with other rappers so doing good business with one will lead them to showing your beats to other rappers in a way that is much more natural than a forced add-on Instagram or Facebook, I would say the majority of my business comes from repeat customers and those customers recommend me. It wasn't until I had the confidence to start putting my music out every day and stay consistent with it that I started to see real results.Īlso don't think you need the best plugins and gear to make good music, a few decent drum kits and stock vsts are all you need to make a great beat, you just need to learn how to use them. The best advice I can give to a young producer is to never get discouraged and to stay consistent, the best feedback you can get is from putting out your music online, it can be very hard at first but when you don't see a lot of results, but if you set goals for yourself and work towards them every day more and more opportunities will come. I think it takes more time that way but it has started to pay off, and for the last year or, so I've been lucky enough to be able to make music full time. I love to help out new producers and give them any kind of tips I can, so anyone that reads this feel free to reach out to me on Could you give some recommendations to aspiring producers trying to make money online selling beats? I tried a ton of things when I started out and really didn't have much success with trying to reach out to artists or spamming “hey check out my beats” comments, I decided the best approach for me was to focus on making the best music that I possibly could and trying to build my own platform, my goal is to let people come to me and not the other way around. Do you have a strategy when you started selling beats? I sold my first beat to a rapper I went to high school with about 1 year after I started making beats, we were at a party and I knew he made music, so I told him I had a few beats and played some for him, a few days later I helped him record a song to it at his parent's house with a mic we put in a shoebox stuffed with foam for acoustic treatment. ![]() I started making beats in 2011 when I was a senior in high school, I did it as more of a hobby at first, I made a few beats for friends and things like that but didn't really put any music online until around 2015 or 2016 When did you sell your first beat? ![]() At the time Lex Luger was one of the most popular producers in hip hop knowing he used fl studio was a big inspiration for me. I looked into the prices of MPCs and as a high schooler there was no way I could afford one but for some reason, the idea of making beats just seemed really fun to me. I remember a few days later googling something like “best free program to make beats on” and a few minutes later I was downloading the demo version of fl studio. I'm not sure why but I started researching how to make beats and specifically remember seeing a video of Arab Muzik on an MPC and thought it was pretty much the coolest thing I'd ever seen. At the time I was trying to write songs (that were pretty bad) and it was hard to find beats online back in 2010 / 2011 so all I had was instrumentals of popular songs. I've always been pretty creative, I used to want to be an artist when I was younger, but I was always very into music as well. How LogyBeats makes $3000 a month selling beats online! ![]()
